Oscars Round Up

I've been lying in bed all day with a severe migraine. I have such a busy week ahead and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself but I could not go to sleep tonight without a post about the Oscars.

I thought that all the ladies today played it safe. There wasn't any "OMG! Did she really wear that?" moment. My absolute favourites were Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and Lupita Nyong'o who has been consistently superb all awards season.

Who was your favourite?

Traveling in Style

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Louis Vuitton. I know I'm a very lucky girl to have quite the collection of handbags and wallets from the famous French design house. As I say to Mr D, they are a good investment as they stand the test of time and will one day be handed over to Lady Sadie.

I was a little concerned when late last year Marc Jacobs (my gay husband crush) abruptly resigned as Creative Director for Louis Vuitton. Marc during his 16 years at LV took the brand from a more traditional and mature aesthetic to something so over the top and creative while at the same time paying homage to it's traditional roots.

Rest assured though that Nicolas Ghesquiere has firmly made his mark if this truly beautiful and epic campaign is anything to go by.

Summer Daze

The last few days in Doha have been absolutely glorious, not too cold and not too warm. You can sense Summer is in the air and it won't be long until the only way to cool off is to jump into an icy cold pool.

Shortly I'll begin shopping for new swimsuits and kaftans. I refuse to wear a bikini but I still like to feel sexy and glamourous in my one piece. These are the looks I'll be going for this year.

A Stripey Leopard

I love when patterns collide to make an oh so beautiful punch. Nothing does this better for me than leopard print and stripes. It is a daring and and bold way to wear an outfit.

Recently on a night out I paired a striped top with a leopard clutch.

I found these inspiring outfits on Pinterest. I'm slowly becoming a little obsessed with Pinterest!

Lisbon Bazaar

I had the absolute pleasure last week of meeting Joana from Lisbon Bazaar, an accessories and fashion retailer in Doha. Joana sources the most stunning accessories, women and girls clothing from her native Portugal and sells them through the thriving Doha Flea Markets.

I spent a couple of hours with some girlfriends pouring through the collection and trying on the most exquisite jewelry.

What I love most about Lisbon Bazaar is what Joana has to offer is something a little different from what you can get at the high street stores. I myself don't like to spend a great deal on costume jewelry and the prices at Lisbon Bazaar and very very reasonable.

You can visit Lisbon Bazaar online here or if you are based in Doha you can visit Lisbon Bazaar at the next Doha Flea Market, details here.

Thank you again to the lovely Joana for allowing me to visit her showroom.

What's Your Style?

A friend the other day asked me what my style was and who was my style inspiration. It stumped me for a minute as I wasn't 100% sure how to answer the question and I've been pondering the question for the last couple of days. I love fashion, I could sit and flick through fashion magazines for hours, you could ask me any question about any designer and I'd know the answer but am I fashionable? I'd like to think so but hey there are days when I've stepped out of the house not giving a damn about what I look like because that morning I just couldn't be bothered. Sometimes I feel like I'm an impostor writing this blog, do I have any credibility to tell other women what to wear, what to eat and how their house should look..probably not. But I love all things fashion, home and food and as long as I do I want to share my thoughts and inspiration with you.

Now back to the question of what's my style. The answer is...classic. I think I have a very classic, easy going style. Definitely at night I like to edge it up a bit more playing around with colours and patterns and I will only buy into trends if they are going to suit my curvy figure...you won't see me sporting the current trend of the crop top anytime soon!

I'm a big believer in accessories and bright lipstick, you'll never see me without either (unless I'm sweating it out at the gym!). I'm obsessed with ballet flats and at last count had over 20 pairs and I love a good designer handbag and I won't tell you how many I have in case my Husband is reading and he deems the number too high to buy me any more!

At the end of the day, I wear what I feel looks right on me and makes me feel good about myself when I look in the mirror. That is my style philosophy. What's yours?

My Style Inspirations...if only I had their figures!
